Self-Care Challenge - Week I

Happy February! As we enter into this month, we are diving deep into a topic that is near and dear to my heart - self-care. What a perfect month to celebrate self-love!

The more I talk with and observe women, I more I see how amazing we are at giving, giving, giving. Whether we give to our kids, our husbands, our parents, friends, co-workers, boss, teachers, or as a volunteer… we extend our hearts, our hands, and our love to everyone who is in need of help. What an amazing gift God...

Cultivating a Heart of Gratitude

Thanksgiving is upon us! For many, this holiday is a time to gather with friends and family to say thank you for all of our many blessings. And what a beautiful time of year it is to give thanks!

Personally, my heart is filled with thanksgiving. I have a healthy family (both immediate and extended) who are blessings to our home and gifts from God.

I have dear friends who support and encourage me and I have beautiful clients who bless me with their strength, determination, and fighting...

Life is More than Being Stressed, Burden, and Overloaded

This past week I have really started diving deep into Rick Warren’s Daily Devotion.

It is a devotion I have been getting in my inbox every day for quite some time. In the past I would read the devotion, but if truth be told, my mind wouldn’t fully be in the lesson.

You see my mind has a great capacity to wander - really wander! I might be thinking about how to grow my ministry, the tasks ahead of me for the day, or how to resolve the latest childhood phase of life. My mind was...

Dear Younger Me

Today I was driving and a song came on the radio that was titled Dear Younger Me by the Christian band, MercyMe. The premise of the song is about giving advice to a younger version of yourself so that the life circumstances and lessons you have learned along the way could give the younger version of you a step ahead in this world.

As I listened to the song, I couldn’t help but reflect upon my own lessons I have learned along this crazy journey called life.

As a wife and mom to...

2 Ways Others Are Teaching Me to Slow Down

When was the last time you were not busy or distracted...or both?

In our 2018 living, busy is not just something we do, but an honorary badge we proudly wear.

And if that badge is not worn, then we begin conjuring up thoughts that assume the worse of that person.

"I wonder what she does all day?"

"I always see her relaxed and carefree. She must not work."

"She doesn't answer emails on the weekend. She must not care."

Can you relate? I know I can.

For years I believed...

To the Women Who Wonders, "There Has to be More to this Life!"

Dear Friend,

I don't know your name, but I know the stirring in your heart and the agony that comes with that stirring. I understand the daily tug-of-war that plays out in your mind. One day life seems good and the next day your soul churns to, "There has to be more" and "Something needs to change."

I feel the desperation in your heart as you want to make a change but fear what that change looks like. And I see the tears that fall as you wonder if anyone else feels this way.

Friend, I'm here...

4 Ways to Slow Down Even When the Calendar Says Otherwise

Well, hello there, friend!

Today, I'm coming before you getting really real.

You know how I talk a lot about simplifying your life so that you can happily find margin in your days to slow down and rest? And how you should embrace self-care and personal boundaries?

Well, I have an announcement to make (you might want to sit down for this...).

Life doesn't always work the way you want it to! I know this comes to a shock to many of you! :)

There simply are going to be days (or months, or...

When You Feel Empty, Try Waking With God

It’s 5:00am in the morning.

It’s dang early, but my natural circadian rhythm tells me its time to get up. Despite my instinct to roll over and go back to sleep, I reset the temptation and quietly tip-toe down the stairs, careful not to stir a soul.

As I wait for the coffee to brew, I pause for 5 minutes and watch the sunrise come over the horizon, greeting me with beautiful hues of orange, pink, blue, and purple, God’s perfect masterpiece.

I’m not sure if there is...

Solitude Brings Life to a Weary Soul

Solitude is defined as "the state or situation of being alone."

It is about finding time everyday to pause from the chaos of life and simply be.

I will be the first to admit that finding silence each day can be anything but easy to do in our 21st century living. But, in order to care for our souls, it is exactly what we need to do.

When we take time to care for our souls, the love and serving we have for others comes from a place of abundance and overflow. If we neglect this soul care,...
