Your attitude determines your success or the lack thereof.
Without an attitude of perseverance, your ability to sustain behavior change for the long-haul is almost a guarantee to fail.
You see, it is your attitude that either carries you through the mess of life, or helps you sit in the mess. Because life will happen.
The messes and trials of our days will always be there. Without an attitude of perseverance, there is no way you will make it through the thick of this mess.
Rather than trudging your way through, you will simply just sit in it. And that, dear friend, is not where I want you to be. I’m guessing you don’t want to be there either.
It is for this reason that you need to do an attitude check every morning.
Ask yourself, “Am I ready for another day of walking through the muck of life to be healthier?” And “Do I care to keep trying?”
If you don’t care to try, you wouldn’t walk towards your goals.
But, if you do care, then you put on the attitude of readiness; an attitude that regardless of what happens that day, you will try.
And if the end of the day comes and the muck of life prevents you from carrying out this desire to try, then you give yourself grace and an assurance that tomorrow is a new day, a fresh start, and another day to try again.
Friend, the attitude you need to see lasting behavior change is one of caring.
If you care about your goals, then you will be persist. And if you are persistent in trying, then your goals, the ones you’ve dreamed of for yourself, will occur.
Being healthier is a life-long journey. Having the right attitude is critical to sustain this journey.
Charles Swindoll wrote a short poem on attitude. I love it so much that I had to share it with you.
If you are want to make 2019 the year you do life different - better - healthier, then I encourage you to print off this attitude poem and place it on your mirror.
Read it each and every day to remind you that your attitude is a critical component of your lifelong journey toward a healthier you.
Praying you through,
